Bird feeders

There are many types of bird feeders for different types of birds.  There are ten types of feeders mentioned here, but there are many other types as well.  

A suet feeder is used by a multitude of birds, including Hairy woodpeckers, Downy woodpeckers, Carolina chickadees, Black-capped chickadees, Northern cardinals, White-breasted nuthatches, Dark-eyed juncos and others.  


A sunflower/peanut feeder is used
by Carolina chickadees, Hairy woodpeckers, Black-capped chickadees, Downy woodpecker, Northern cardinals, White-breasted nuthatches, Rose-breasted grosbeaks and many others.  

A thistle (Niger) feeder is used primarily by finches, including American goldfinches.  


A ground feeder is used by Mourning doves, Red-winged blackbirds, Northern cardinals, Dark-eyed juncos and, surprisingly, White-breasted nuthatches among others.  


A hopper feeder is usually used by Rose-breasted grosbeaks, White-breasted nuthatches, Northern cardinals, Carolina chickadees, Black-capped chickadees, Red-winged blackbirds and more. 

 
A platform feeder feeds Rose-breasted grosbeaks, Northern cardinal, Carolina chickadee, Black-capped chickadee and others.  

A jelly feeder may attract Baltimore orioles and Ruby-throated hummingbirds.


A nectar feeder may be used by 
Baltimore orioles and Ruby-throated hummingbirds.
